BACKGROUND
Since the inception of the Public Health Symposium in 2022, the event has become a leading premier platform for stakeholders in the public health professionals ecosystem across Zimbabwe and the region.The symposium has reignited health discussions, bringing together policymakers, researchers, practitioners,NGOs private sector and community leaders to address critical public health challenges. It has fostered collaboration, knowledge exchange, and a shared understanding on public health challenges and priorities in Zimbabwe and the region., With each successive year, the symposium continues to grow in influence, shaping policies and driving initiatives that continue to advance public health interventions in Zimbabwe.
Anchored by Zimbabwe’s Minister of Health & Child Care, Dr. D. Mombeshora, “the Public Health Symposium is befitting for a public health consultative platform in Zimbabwe”. The symposium continues to ignite high-level discussions shaping the future of public health in Zimbabwe and beyond.
The upcoming 3rd edition of the Public Health Symposium builds on the momentum of the previous successful events, solidifying the role of the symposium as a critical platform for shaping the future of public health in Zimbabwe and the region. Building on the insights and collaborations from the past, this year’s symposium promises to elevate discussions to new heights, focusing on integration of heritage and evidence-based intervention in public health. With a growing network of
practitioners, policymakers, and practitioners, the 3rd edition aims to create even stronger partnerships and drive meaningful, sustainable change in public health practice ensuring that the future of public health in Zimbabwe and Africa is informed by both heritage and evidence based solutions.
Notably, the symposium arrives at a crucial moment, as global health finance policies are undergoing significant shifts, driven by changing international dynamics. The 3rd edition will also place significant emphasis on the critical need for self-sustaining health financing models. Key discussions will center around innovative avenues for health funding, including domestic resource mobilization, public-private partnerships, and the exploration of alternative funding mechanisms The 3rd edition of the Public Health Symposium stands as a pivotal moment in the ongoing evolution of public health in Zimbabwe and the broader region.
Building on the success of the previous symposiums, this year’s symposium continues to foster collaboration, networking, knowledge and sharing of best practices; and the integration of heritage and evidence-based approaches in public health. Approximately 300 stakeholders, including policymakers, health practitioners, and industry leaders, the symposium are expected to attend this year›s 3rd Edition of the Public Health Symposium. Zimbabwe’s Minister of Health & Child Care, Hon. Dr.D.Mombeshora will be the guest of honour and will deliver a keynote address.
